Articles – various themes

468x60_wrote1.gifjune-24-pick.jpgjune-24-pick.jpgGarden scene 2006I write numismatic articles- relating to odd facts concerning coins/and or historical data relating to the same. Biblical with ancient historical themes will also be included.  Gardening iss another of my regualr hobbies- Therefore I will probably share some of those delightful garden scenes  Also  my intention is to insert photos from time to time that relate to the articles that have been posted.  Still in process of setting up my new computer– and photos where they may be of value to an article have not been included.

Therefore when an article is first read, the phto to support said article may not at first have not been inserted.  The reason for this is that when I post the articl to the blog, I can not always readily find my supporting photo as I have thousands of them and my indexing is not perfect– So if your curosity allows, bookmark the particular article and come back from time to time.  For example, in one of my articles, I have mentioned metalurgy in coinage (where tin was first used to make brass water valves in the city of Ancient Rome)  I will eventually find my picture of this ancient water valve to include in this article. This Valve was found in the ruins of the ancient Isle of Capri- One of Emperor Tiberius’ Villas)  Trail of Tin I believe is the title of the article.  So bear with me as I work on improving what I have posted to my blog.;
I steer away from most of what you can find on TV- concerning politicians, celebrities and what they are doing. It does appear to me that this is what many blogs relate to- but that is not my “cup of tea”  I like the unusual and little known facts as recording in our history.  I just learned the other day that 52 of the leading Universities in our country do not teach history. What a shame!!–

 I have been asked by several who know me that I should write a book including my articles.  Now of course even the people who know me do not realzie that I have writeen man  many articles during the past 35 or 40 years.  After computers came into our lives, I began posting previous published stories into my computer until now I have a considerable back log.  When changing to later computer models, of course I lost many of my earlier articles.  I had not kept the paper copies of especially those I had published in church papers. Some of what you read will have been re-written from memory and placed on this blog.

There are also some articles residing on a couple of web-sites that I previously created that I can no longer gain access to- The reason for this is because, I have updated from one computer to another too many times.  However, now they have these USB  attachments that will hold two or three Gigabytes and you may now be able to save all your data.  I did save much of my material on floppy disks, but  in our moving from our long time home in california to New Mexico, most of those got lost.

Nevertheless, what you read on this blog, is what I have managed to salvage from old files and I simply include them with the hope that others may enjoy some of the ramblings through these pages.  I do Welcome and challenge you for your comments– Let us keep the spice of life alive.  Let us not allow ourselves to slip into the quagmire of limbo where our minds can grow dull.  I love to hear from people.–

Much of the joys of my life have come through emails from people who read my articles on CoinMasters or World Internet Numismatics (some of these are still on their website i b elieve).
